Tagline copy tests

Find out which version of your copy resonates most with participants.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Tagline copy tests let you present text variations and ask participants to choose their favourite. They are designed specifically for comparing written copy like headlines, taglines, product descriptions, or marketing messages.

When to use a tagline copy test

  • Comparing headline or tagline variations for a landing page.

  • Testing different product descriptions or value propositions.

  • Evaluating the clarity, tone, or persuasiveness of marketing copy.

  • Getting feedback on button labels or call-to-action text.

Adding a tagline copy test to your study

  1. Open your study and go to the Build tab.

  2. Click Add step.

  3. Select Tagline copy test.

  4. Type your question.

  5. Enter your copy variants.

  6. Add as many options as you need.

How it works for participants

Participants see each copy variant displayed clearly and select the one they prefer.

Tips for better results

  • Test one thing at a time. If you change both the headline and the subheading between variants, you will not know which change drove the preference.

  • Keep variants similar in length so participants are comparing content rather than format.

  • Follow up with an open text question to understand the reasoning behind each choice.

Next steps

For comparing visual designs rather than text, use an image preference test. You can also use conditional logic to show different follow-up questions based on which variant participants preferred.
