Video is at the core of Ballpark studies and helps you to gather even deeper insights from your tests. We also generate recording summaries and transcripts to help speed up your analysis and ensure you don't miss any key points.
These features are available for responses with audio spoken in one of 16+ languages and is included on all plans. When there is enough data to generate them, the summary and transcription section show below the recording in each response to your project:
Summary: The first tab will give you a summary of what the participant said broken down into meaningful sections.
Transcription: The second tab includes the raw timestamped transcription of what the participant said throughout the session.
Hovering over a section on a summary or transcript will allow you click on a timestamp and jump to that point in the recording or press a button to copy the section to clipboard.
Summary tab
Key points: The summary breaks down your recording into sections based on the topics being discussed and the tasks being completed.
Executive summary: The executive summary helps you quickly understand what the participant did, said and felt while completing their response.
Interesting points: While it is helpful to have the transcription summarised for you, we also compile interesting verbatim quotes that you can use when analysing and sharing your research with stakeholders.
Transcription tab
Ballpark automatically generates transcripts from audio recordings on your responses and will generally show within a few minutes after a participant leaves the session.
Recordings with audio spoken in one of the below languages will be automatically detected and transcribed:
Spanish
English
Hindi
Japanese
Russian
Ukrainian
Swedish
Chinese
Portuguese
Dutch
Turkish
French
German
Indonesian
Korean
Italian
The transcript will only be generated if enough spoken words are detected in one of the 16 supported languages. There is not currently multilingual support, so Transcripts will only be generated in one of the supported languages at a time.
More languages and translation coming soon! In the coming months we’ll be adding support for more languages. You will be given the ability to manually select the language and regenerate the transcript.
Sharing and downloading a transcript
Copy a section: You are able to copy any section of the summary or transcript to your clipboard by hovering over it and selecting the copy icon at the right hand side.
Linking to a timestamp: From the media player above the summary and transcript, select the Settings ⚙️ icon and select Copy share link
Downloading the transcript: Very soon we'll be adding the option to download an entire transcript as a VTT file. This format enables you to add subtitles to your downloaded video recordings in third-party players.
